School Council

At Corrie, our School Council is a vital part of our learning community. It is very important that the views and opinions of ALL children across our school are heard and represented. The School Council work hard to ensure that this happens. We usually meet every fortnight but sometimes more often if there is something urgent that we need to discuss.
Each class has a School Council Representative, who had to apply for the position and have an informal interview with the Y6 School Council Committee and Miss Turner.
Our School Council also has a Communications Committee, Investors In Pupils Committee and a KS1 Committee.
School Councillors need to have the following personal qualities so that they are:
• Reliable
• Responsible
• Friendly and approachable
• Good at listening to everyone
• Able to remember things
• Honest and sensible hardworking
These are the things the School Councillors needs to do:
• Attend meetings, turn up on time and be interested.
• Bring your book to the meeting if you are on the Committees.
• Listen to the views and opinions of the class and bring them to the meeting.
• Report everyone’s ideas and opinions even if they are not your own.
• Bring ideas to the meeting that will make the school a better place to be.
• Feedback information to your class – ask your teacher for a time to do this.
• Wear your badge so people know that you are the representative.
• Collect views of pupils from the Listening Bench in KS2 and Classes in KS1.
• Present some assemblies with support from Miss Turner.
