Hi All,

Hope you are still keeping safe and well. From Monday (18th May), there will be new home learning packs available to collect from school. I know Mrs. Cartledge has been keeping you all up to date with the latest advice from the government, but in the meantime, and until anything changes, I will keep providing you with lots to be getting on with at home. There is a lot to cover in the packs, so don’t be worried if some of the tasks run over into another day.

It was lovely to speak to so many of you on the phone and I will be ringing again in a few weeks to have a chat and see how everyone is doing. Remember when I call, it will be from a withheld or private number but I promise I won’t try to sell you PPI or ask if you have had an accident that wasn’t your fault during the last five years!!

Again, if you would rather have the packs emailed to you, send me an email on year4@corrie.tameside.sch.uk and I will send one over to you. The new battle on TTRockstars is underway and as I mentioned, some of you may well have been aware that all year 4 children in the country were supposed to take the national times tables check test in June. Obviously, under the current circumstances, all such official tests have now been postponed. However, the people at TTRockstars have sent teachers questionnaires to ask whether we think it would be useful for them to put together some form of test that the children could complete at home around the same time to give us an idea of whether the children are where they should be up to and also to allow the children to take a version of the test that they have been practising for all year. These results will not be sent anywhere and will not have any impact on the children moving forward, but it would be nice to recognise all the work they have been doing. Although the details for how this will work have not yet been put together, I will let you know as soon as I know anything and in the meantime, it would be great if you could have another push on getting the children to really work on their tables at home. If you are unsure of the login details for TTRockstars, let me know and I will send them over to you.

All of the websites below are still providing excellent materials to supplement the work we are providing and, as always, above all, just make sure that your amazing children are staying happy and safe during these incredibly challenging times.

If you need any help or support whatsoever, just send me an email on the above address at any time and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.

Stay safe,

Mr. G.

New Home Learning

Hi All,

Hope you are still keeping safe and well. From Monday (4th May), there will be new home learning packs available to collect from school. Summer Term

Hi all,

Hope you are all still keeping safe and well and haven’t eaten too many Easter eggs (I’ll be honest, I might have done!)

The home learning packs will be available in school and if you would like me to email you a copy, please let me know on the year 4 email (year4@corrie.tameside.sch.uk).

All the other websites listed below are still available and I will be updating the activities on Active learn regularly.

If you were watching the latest government update yesterday, you may have seen the Education secretary talking about a lot of online lessons which have been prepared for children to us across the nation at this difficult time. I have had a look at these and they seem really good. The lessons are prepared on a day by day basis and have videos of the teaching along with lessons to complete. Apart from the Spanish lessons, which are not relevant as we learn French, they are in line with the learning that the children should be doing. Please have a look at these, but don’t race ahead with them as I will be looking and updating which activities are particularly relevant. The lessons can be found on the following website: https://thenational.academy/

Keep safe and I will be available on the email for any questions or concerns you may have.

Mr. Griffin.

Hi all!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing OK. Remember to keep using all of the fantastic online tools that are available. All of the information for how to get onto these is below. I have also made lots of new allocations on the Active Learn website, including some spelling, grammar and writing tasks as well as more maths tasks.

Home Learning Help

Dear Parents / Carers,

Just to make you aware of the different online resources that are available for you to use whilst school is closed. Most of these can be accessed by the teachers, so we can keep up to date with where you are up to. Remember, for TT Rockstars, Active Learn and Spelling Shed, the login details are at the back of the children’s homework books.

-TT Rockstars. The battles are still available and the children should be regularly practicing all of their tables. Remember, if they can earn 1000 points per week, they will be well on their way to mastering their tables knowledge.

-Active Learn. I will be putting new tasks on the active learn website all the time. There will be interactive games, like we usually have, but there will also be workbook and worksheet activities for the children to complete.

-Spelling Shed. The children should also be using spelling shed regularly. Again, I will be updating the words and activities that the children can access on here.

-Yumu. As part of the children’s music curriculum, they have online access to Yumu which is part of the Charanga music scheme we follow in school. I have attached a letter which provides the login details for this site. When the children access this, they will see the activities that I have attached for them to complete. Again, I can see where they are up to with this and add more when necessary.

-Twinkl. This is an online resource that is currently being offered to parents with one month’s free access to the entire site to try to help parents to manage the school closures.

Advice on how to access this from the Twinkl website is as follows:

Step 1: Go to www.twinkl.co.uk/offer

Step 2: Enter the code you have received, or CVDTWINKLHELPS if you have not yet been given a code

We have a number of really helpful guides, designed for parents, for different areas of the curriculum. You can direct parents towards our dedicated Parents’ Hub which contains hundreds of educational activities designed for use at home. Or, browse this area yourself and hand-pick individual resources to share.

For parents with children in EYFS, take a look through our EYFS for Parents area to find some really useful guides and activities to share.

For primary-aged children, take a look at our 5-11 area. Again, this was created with parents in mind so it’s filled with guides and information about what children should be learning in each year group, for each curriculum area.

-DiscoveryEducation (Espresso): The login details for these interactive resources are as follows:

Login at: www.discoveryeducation.co.uk

Username: student22435

Password: corrie

-Another site which we have access to thanks to one of our governors is mymaths.co.uk. This has lots of interactive activities on, but for each area, there are also attached lessons, which make it much easier to work through the activities with the children. We will let you know which areas are the best for your children to work on through the website. The login details are as follows:

www.mymaths.co.uk

Login: mgs

Password: prime

-As well as the online access which will be available, there is a new homework menu sheet which has been produced for the children to complete a variety of tasks either in their homework books or more practically.

There is also an attached booklet which provides additional work for the children to do in terms of keeping up with science and other foundation subjects. This also contains some additional maths and English activities. Many of these activities are taken from the above Twinkl website, so there will be additional support on there to help with these activities.

We can be contacted on year4@corrie.tameside.sch.uk

Stay safe and look after each other.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr. Griffin
