I started by supporting the school as a volunteer, having recently taken early retirement from education as a teacher. When a vacancy arose, I applied to take on the role of a parent governor. I was thrilled to be voted onto the governing body.
I completed the training modules for a governor and attended training for resource finance when I took on the role of chair of the resources committee, where I gained knowledge of how the school budget works.
Until recently, I was chair of the resources committee, but changed my role to become a co-opted governor when my daughter left the school.
I am still committed to helping Corrie succeed in providing a good all-round education for the children that attend the school.
