At Corrie Primary School the aim of PSHE is to provide pupils with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, values and skills they need in order to reach their potential as individuals and within the community.
We value the arts and democracy as core drivers within our PSHE curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences contributing fully to the life of their school and communities. Through the school council each year group has the opportunity to have their say in key decision making through their school representative. The children learn what voting is and exercise their right to vote for instance by deciding what charity they want school to support. Through the Arts the children learn to express their feelings through speaking and listening activities and drama by for example acting out certain scenarios. In the Summer each year group has the opportunity to design, make and sell a product at our fair.
In our school we choose to deliver Personal, Social, Health Education using Jigsaw, the mindful approach to PSHE. The long term planning for PSHE covers emotional health and well-being, financial capability, global citizenship, British values, diversity, sex and relationship education, drug, tobacco and alcohol education and bullying.
