Welcome

We hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and are ready for the new term. We’ve got an exciting few months ahead, and we can’t wait to dive in! The Autumn Term is always a busy one, so here’s a little peek at what’s coming up:

English

To begin the school year, we are starting with the text ‘The First Drawing’ by Mordecai Gerstein, this is a great book, linked to our topic about ‘The Stone Age’. This book will develop our knowledge about life in the stone age and will also provide lots of great writing opportunities. We will be creating our own exciting stone age adventure to share with our families.

We will continue to work on our common exception word spellings and looking at a range of punctuation to make our writing exciting.

Maths

We are starting the year with the ‘Place Value’ unit in Power Maths, then moving onto addition and subtraction, partitioning numbers, comparing numbers and adding numbers on a number line.

We will be continuing to work on our times table knowledge and times table rockstars will really help to support this.

Science

This half term our science unit is ‘Animals including Humans’. We will be learning about the links between animals and humans. We be exploring vertebrates and invertebrates, looking at the function of muscles in the human body and learning about a balanced diet.

Topic

Our topic this half term is ‘The Stone Age’, we will learning all about this period of time and life in the Stone Age. There will be a stone age workshop, with lots of artefacts and information for us to enjoy and we will be creating our own Stone Age menu, then making the food,

Jigsaw

Our first Puzzle is called Being Me In My World. We will be discussing how we learn, how we can help others and our school community.

PE

PE will be TUESDAYS.

We read in class every day, so make sure you always have your Reading Log in school.
